Richard and Philip meet to discuss Richard's arranged marriage to Philip's sister Alice. Philip agrees to release Richard from his promise in return for 10,000 marks.
King Philip is isolated following the exposure of his intrigues against Richard, and Richard's wooing of Tancred. Following his conference with King Tancred, Richard tells Philip he cannot keep his pledge to marry Philip's sister Alice as his father, Henry II, had not only made Alice his mistress, but she had borne Henry a son. Philip agrees to release Richard from his promise in return for 10,000 marks. Ricahrd and Philip settle other differences. They agree the Norman Vexin and the castle of Gisor will remain Richard's, and will pass to his male descendants, but will otherwise revert to Philip. Likewise, of Philip dies without male heirs, it will remain Richard's. Richard confirms Philip's rights over lssoudun, Graçay and Auvergne, while Philip confirms Richard's rights over Cahors and the Quercy.
