Geyser that Bring Magical Disturbances
In the western lands around Mid River, where beans and rice grow, a particular geyser that brings a magical phenomenon occurs naturally. It's main consequence is turning beans magical.
There are a few geysers bringing water and nutrients to the fields on the west of the Mid River. Farmers have found that the beans grown near the geysers are larger than typical beans. However, one geyser that can be found next to a bean field picks up magical elements as it erupts from the earth, enchanting the water of said geyser.
Every time this particular geyser erupts, there is magic in the water, however the density differs every year. Thus the effects on the subsequent harvest of the neighbouring bean field differs every year. Some years there is no magical effect on the beans, and some years the magic is so dense that it can spread to other fields of bean and even rice. When the magic is hugely dense, the beans not only become magical (as they do most years) but they immediately exhibit magical growth and / or other effects. This is known as a great disaster. During these years (which happen approxiamately once every hundred years or so) the bean field has to be completely renewed. There have also been recorded fatalities. In addition, approximately every 20 years a small disaster occurs.
Tooting beans (the 'Toots' for short). These magical beans run around singing the word 'toot'. They are especially famous for interupting awkward and/or significant moments. They don't seem to age nor need any sustenance.
Growing magical beanstalks that reach above the clouds and connecting to another plane once planted. Once the top of the beanstalk flowered, and the flowers opened up into various portals.
Tasting like fish.
Tasting like something that isn't beans.
Disintegrate when touched.
Create monster vines that absorbed people.
Turning into parasite that enter the bloodstream and kill from the inside.
Give dreams about being a bean farmer.
Weight loss beans.
Weight gain beans.
A mix of weight gain and weight loss.
Give everyone who eats them accents.
The beans become a different colour.
Beans that wink.
And many more (there's been centuries worth of these phenomena, after all)

Recorded Magical Effects
And don't even get us started on the collectors...
Yes, people collect magic beans. And they love to talk about, or aggresively hint of, their collection. So much more annoying than those people who collect magic puppets.
