Timeline Events
- On the afternoon of Avril 12th, Elric and Rowan confront Berwyn in the plaza of Heathersly.
- Smok murders Berwyn with his own knife on the evening of Avril 12th.
- On April 13th, Basina and Gerard take Berwyn's body, still with the knife in his chest, toward Kalai via oxcart. They bring along Rosine and six men who were in the longhouse that night.
- If not prevented by the PCs, they arrive in Kalai on the afternoon of Avril 13th. Rolf and Clarity view the body. Basina accuses Elric of the murder.
- On Avril 14th, Smok's absence is noted unless he has returned. The cry goes out for him to perform the Sacrifinale.
- If Elric is not in Kalai, Rolf organizes a cohort to round him up. This will include Rolf, Kampari, Cedric, Gerard, and the 6 Heathersly men and they will go to Heathersly to get him. If Elric flees (a Chase results) and he will acquire the Outlaw Hindrance, along with any known to be with him.
- If Elric is in Kalai, a trial will be held.
Trial Events
- Elric is accused because he publicly challenged Berwyn's authority and clearly held a grudge after being thrown out of town.
- A commoner's lifegold is 100 shillings, but Berwyn was a bailiff, so his life is worth 150 shillings. However, the murder was also clearly premeditated (drawing Berwyn upstairs) and done in secretly cowardly fashion, so the lifegold is set to 250 shillings.
- If Elric admits to the crime, Clovis will come forward as a character witness and admit to stealing the goat kid and that Elric was blameless. This will not sway Rolf and Elric will be judged guilty and owing the lifegold, which Tobiasch will pay.
- If Elric protests his innocence, Cedric will offer to settle the matter by trial by combat--to the death. The Gods will decide who is guilty and who is blameless.
- If Smok confesses, he will be found guilty and acquire the Shamed Hindrance and owe the lifegold. Kampari suggest that he would be Smok's sponsor if the crematore would "take the lay orders."
