Sacrament of Schermatura

The Shielding Sacrament is a little-seen ceremony in this era, but is is still occasionally used to raise as Bastioni, itinerant clergy sent into the world to help those in need and minister to the faithful. They wear a red surcoat with a silver star-and-pentagram, and often travel armed with a shield and mail corselet.

Execution

  1. While he kneels and washes his hands, let him say: Cleanse my hands, Santo Sincére, and wipe away all stain so that I may be able to serve in purity of mind and body.
  2. As he puts on the gambeson, let him say: Santo Guérisse, soften my heart for compassion and steel my will that I may walk in the ways of Light at all times.
  3. As he puts on the corselet, let him say: Santo Bondir, Knight of Paradise, grant that I may advance in battle as to merit Thy favor and be forthright in word and deed.
  4. As he puts on the surcoat, let him say: Let the sigil of the Church strike fear into the hearts of the unjust and may Santo Légitime keep my verdicts just and right.
  5. As he puts on the cincture, let him say: Gird me, Santo Roland, with the cincture of zeal and help me defeat those who would oppress the weak for their own ends.
  6. As he puts on the biretta, let him say: Santo Caroline, Queen of Paradise, set the cap of fealty on my head that I might faithfully serve those in rightful station above me, and to be a just lord to the vassals in my charge.
  7. As he stands, let him say: As was done in the days of old and in the time of the paladins, so let it be today.
Lodare i Cinque.
