Triumvirate Deans of the Reliquary

The Triumvirate governs the Reliquary and, ultimately, hold all its secrets. The identity of these three individuals, while not entirely secret, is nonetheless withheld from junior Keepers until they have gained Vested status (been in service for at least five years with satisfactory performance) or in special cases, earlier on a need-to-know basis.

Qualifications

The organization is an seniority-based oligarchy, and the Deans are the longest-serving Master Reliquae in each of their respective branches.

Requirements

The candidate for Dean must be a Master Reliqus in good standing who has completed a significant project to achieve tenured status.

Appointment

Once the former Dean's death is confirmed, the Master Reliquae of the branch convene, and the dates of tenure are compared to find the longest-serving member. This presumptive candidate's service record is reviewed. If there are no flagrant infractions of the Code, and the number of any minor infractions is superseded by the number of meritorious citations, the candidate is confirmed Dean.

Duties

To control the activities of the Reliquary, namely locating, acquiring, cataloging, analyzing, and storing magical relics, especially those dating from the Empire of the Dawn.

Responsibilities

The Triumvirate is responsible for keeping the Reliquary out of common knowledge. The institution's existence does not have to be completely clandestine, but it should be known as an esoteric college of scholars who did little but read and catalog dusty tomes and ancient scrolls.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Academic robes with a hood lined with cloth-of-silver rather than the color of the branch, plus an ornate key on a chain that serves as both a sealing signet and allows access to the Triumvirate Chambers.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Though Deans are expected to serve for life or until voluntary retirement, on rare occasions they can be "made Emeritus" if their mental capacity is judged to no longer have the capacity to discharge their duties. Imposing such forced retirement must be decided unanimously by the senior five members of the Dean's branch and sponsored by at least one of the other two serving Deans.
