Thar
An inhospitable region of badlands and deserts, inhabited by warring tribes and clans that serves as a constant threat to its neighbours.
Orcs, trolls, orges, barbarians and other nightmares war constantly for dominance and need little excuse for bloodshed. Settlements are often temporary and territories are constantly shifting as tribes ascend as quickly as they fall. What few major settlements exist serve as trading posts enforced by the brutal law of a powerful clan and often as dangerous and violent for those in it than those without.
Violence will often spill out of Thar and in the extremes has led to raids and full blown war parties descending on the Moonsea. Nothing scares the City states more than a united Thar and they consistently act to undermine any growing powers in the region, with adventurers and mercenaries paid a high price for venturing into Thar. This fear however does not stop the same cities from hiring the tribes and it is not uncommon to find Tharians serving as hired muscle and mercenaries.
