Lorient River Offensive
The Lorient River Offensive was the military victory directly responsible for breaking the Siege of Faerin. Both conflicts occurred during the Century War of the Ancestors. Delondra Anu was the catalyst for the collapse of the 211 day Siege and insured the survival of the city. That victory was a major defeat for Germanic Forces, which in turn helped persuade the German military leadership that the war there was lost. While decisive in ending the Germanic Elven claim to the region, the battle did not resolve the underlying national issues there.
The Conflict
Prelude
The biggest problem of resupplying Faerin was getting supplies 1000 miles into enemy territory. Anu's strategy was based on using the Lorient River from the Sea of Kish to bring in much-needed troops. The problem was the river was under control of Germanic Forces and watched as it is a major artery in the region. Limited by needing to move by darkness, to avoid costal detection, this was a task that was deemed impossible to accomplish.
Deployment
As they needed to move upriver against the current Delondra enlisted the aid of 4 dragon turtles to pull barges loaded with troops. Using this silent transportation method, and magic of obscurement, they made there way up river 920 miles in just 22 days.
Conditions
While the relief troops arrived at there destination the confinement and tight quarters on the barges did nothing for morale, sanitation or nutrition. In reality, nearly half the force of 500 men that Delondra had under her command where not battle-ready upon arrival to the Seige of Faerin.
The Engagement
On the morning of the second day of Siodan, the Germainc Troops deployed on the the east bank, under the command of the Earl of Drabesh, Commander Gerhard Vorlec, and Lord Nalmol Rosen, demolished their outworks and assembled in battle array in the field near the port of Faerin. The Faerin army under Martin-Louis Beaumont lined up before them with Anu's Doran shock troops. They stood facing each other immobile for about an hour, before the Germanic Detatchment withdrew from the field and marched off to join other Germanic forces being recalled towards the western front.
The Elfs did not consider themselves beaten. Although they had suffered a setback and tremendous losses at Faerin itself, the surrounding perimeter of the Faerin region was still in their hands. While, it is believed the Vorlec was working to reorganize and resume the siege of Faerin, the western front of Naggarons empire required the diversion of his forces, allowing the Faerin nation to dig in and fortify there capitol stronghold.
