Master Report

General Summary

Session 1 - 2019-03-04

Navas Nautilus and Heimdall Bearcloak are at camp near the road, about a half day away from Bryn Shander.   Granny and Brickum Nackle approach friendly, and Navas gives his speech to them, but not before Nariak Valu-Navi shows up.   They sleep for the night in Leomund's Tiny Hut.   They are nearly ambushed by Crag Cats, only surprised by one of them. Oscar (Granny's Owl) spots two, and Granny spots a third as it charged at her.   They take out the four crag cats. Granny took a few points of damage.   They get to Bryn Shander, Augrek Brighthelm gives her spiel, but is cut off and taken back by that.   They head to Kelvin's Comfort and get some food and drink. Brick can tell that Ogden Flamebeard's brandy is not actually his.   They Meet Sir Baric Nylef, he has a wound on his face from a yeti. He tells them they can go to Sirac at the House of the Triad to see if he can make coats for them.   Sir Baric also tells them about Worvil "the Weevil" Forkbeard. And asks for them to keep their ears and eyes open.   Session ends and they are still in the tavern.    

Session 2 - 2019-03-11

Session begins, speaking to Sir Baric Nylef.   Brick and Granny went to the Temple of the Triad to inquire with Sirac about Yeti fur coats. They ended up each getting a medium sized coat, paying 45 gold pieces for the pair.   They stayed in Geldenstag's Rest, where they met Myrtle, the innkeeper. They stayed the night in this cheap inn with minimal accommodations.   The following morning, they headed to the Northlook (another inn in town, frequented by mercenaries and adventuring types). Along the way, they overhear the Town Speaker and the Sheriff in an argument. While eavesdropping, they hear thunder, which is odd to them because the climate in the north typically does not allow for such conditions.   The town is surrounded by Frost Giants, with their band leader, Drufi, demanding they surrender Artus Cimber, with all of his belonging, or die.   The party head to the southwest gate and tactically take out Drufi and one of her winter wolves, before the rest of the giants retreat.    

Session 3 - 2019-03-18

The party collected the loot from the giants. They receive some quests and boons from the NPC at this time.   They rest at the Northlook. Navas sings songs of his people, and brings in business. The innkeeper as well as some patrons buy the party rounds of drinks. Granny sneaks out to speak more with Myrtle. The party makes it through the night without spending much coin at all.   In the morning, the party gather their equipment and plan to meet at the north gate. Brick and Granny looks around the market square and meet Beldora. They are pretty suspicious of her, and end up finding out that what Myrtle said is true, she seems to know when travelers approach from Ten Trail. Oscar spots Beldora whisper something into her large coat.   The party sets out to the north, passing a few of the other settlements in Ten Towns, crossing a small bridged river, and start to head west.   Oscar sees (and Granny feels) two frost giants having some sort of rock throwing competition. There is also a caged winter wolf in the area. The party sneak around Brick casts suggestion on one of the giants. He suggests that the giant gives up on the competition, heads back to where he came from, and announces where he is going as he does so. The giant walks away and says "You keep the wolf, I'm going northwest, back to the ship!"   Granny attempts to speak to the other giant, but the giant threw a rock at her. They kill the wolf, and knock the giant out. They proceed to restrain the giant and plan to interrogate him when he wakes up.  

Quests and Boons

Augrek Brighthelm wants the party to get reinforcements from Ironmaster.   Sirac wants to get far away from Bryn Shander. The giants were looking for his father. He tells the party to ask the Roaringhorns in waterdeep if they want to learn more about Artus Cimber.   Duvessa Shane dispatches scouts to check on the other settlements in Ten Towns. She writes a letter to her Aunt in Waterdeep, granting the party access to her ship, The Dancing Wave, to travel up and down the Sword Coast.   Markham Southwell wants the party to Patrol the Icewind Dale and find out whatever they can about the Giants.   Sir Baric Nylef is determined to find the Weevil, but does not want to waste the parties time on a futile hunt.    

Session 4 - 2019-03-25

Nariak Valu-Navi uses lay on hands to wake the giant up with 1 hp. Brickum Nackle used detect thoughts while they interrogate the giant to get the most information as possible. The party find out the following bits of information:  
  • The giant who ran away, his name is Gobarg
  • The wolf was Drufi's, and he is pissed you killed it.
  • He came on a ship with 17 other giants.
  • Drufi was their band leader, now that she is dead, they will retreat.
  • He does not know who the new leader will be, maybe it will be him?
  • They used a Blod Stone with Artus CImber's blood in it, and it let them to Bryn Shander.
  The party makes it to Ironmaster and meet Gwert Brighthelm. Gwert is grateful to hear news that his cousin Augrek Brighthelm is safe. He not only agrees to organize reinforcements to aide Bryn Shander, but gives the party some gems and a few magic items to show his gratitude.   The party spend the night safely at the edge of Ironmaster, guarded by Hergrick Runefury and Dardorrel Leadbraid.   They head towards Hundelstone, and when they are nearly there, they witness an aerial combat between two dragons; one blue, and one bronze. The blue one appears to have fled, and the bronze one appears to have landed near Hundelstone.   The party meet Thwip Ironbottom at The Cellar as they have some food and drink. The party turn in for the night. Granny wakes up in the middle of the night for some reason. Granny noticed the once closed and locked door at the end of the hall is now open. Granny wakes Heimdall Bearcloak and they investigate the open door. They make their way through a network of tunnels trying to figure out what could have passed through the door. They encounter some crumbling earth and flawlessly avoid falling into a 15 ft deep pit.   Session Ends.    

Session 5 - 2019-05-06

As rocks and dirt fall into the pit, Granny and Heimdall hear the sounds of a small child crying in fear. They drop a torch down into the pit, and are able to see a rock gnome boy, paralyzed in fear. They try to get the boy to climb a rope, but he does not have enough upper body strength to climb it. Heimdall lowers Granny into the pit, and she see's a beholder looking creature staring at the two of them. Heimdall is able to pull the boy up with the rope, and Granny is able to climb it.   Back at the inn, Torter's mother wakes up and starts freaking out that Torter is missing. Everyone in the inn wakes up to see what the commotion is about. Torter's dad and the rest of the party head into the mines to look for Torter.   While escorting Torter back to the inn, the party is confronted with a Bulette. Granny turns into a huge snake, and they begin to fight it. The rest of the party, and Torter's father, approach the bulette from the other end of the tunnel. They are able to take down the bulette without taking much damage.   The party convinces Thwip that there is a beholder in the mines and calculates that he can pay them 235 gold to get rid of it for him. The party go down and poke the beholder looking creature and it explodes with poisonous gas. The party returns to Thwip to collect their reward and stay the rest of the night.. They gather their supplies and head back to Bryn Shander in the morning.   On the road, they see a group of people coming towards them. The group of strangers give the party a wide berth and avoid confrontation. When the party nears Bryn Shander, they notice a blood trail and some large tracks off the road. They follow it and find a pair of Yeti who have hunted a crag cat.   Session Ends.    

Session 6 - 2019-05-13

The party fought the yeti that they found. They left with their lives, as well as the head of the abominable yeti, and plenty of fur to make coats, cloaks, and hats for party members who wish to have them.   Heading back to Bryn Shander, they delivered news of the giant ship to Markham Southwell and Duvessa Shane. They have a semi-private conversation and the party could make out the words "Harshnag", "Gray Hands", and "Ten Towns". Markham and Duvessa explain that they don't have anything to offer them except for hospitality. The party stays in Bryn Shander for a few days, resting, exploring, and assisting the townsfolk with repairs from the giant attack.   Navas uses sending to send a message to Heimdall's uncle's right hand guy to ask them to send a ship to Fireshear. He responds explaining the port of Fireshear is likely frozen, but he would get as close to the port as possible. He also states that the ship will arrive in 5 days, and they will wait for 1 day. If the party does not make it to the ship on that day, they will head back to Neverwinter.    

Session 7 - 2019-05-20

The session begins after the party have safely traveled two days from Bryn Shander to Hundelstone. They stay at the same inn that they did last time, and Granny receives the clockwork dancer that she ordered from Thwip Ironbottom. They stay the night and head for Fireshear in the morning.   The first day of travel is uneventful. Towards the end of the final day of travel, the party is ambushed by crag cats. The party learns about a special spell turning ability that the crag cats have. However, the party has no issues chopping them up into a thousand pieces.   After arriving in Fireshear, the party find it hard to find a place to sleep, but easy to find a place to drink. Brick, Heimdal, and Nariak enter a drinking contest. Brick does surprisingly well considering his small stature, but Nariak was able to take take first place. Heimdall pukes and rallies. Ignorant to the fact that the contest is over, he keeps drinking. One way or another, they get some rest for the night.   Nariak wakes to find his helmet missing, wearing the copper bowl from his contest winnings, on his head. He searches the tavern where the contest was, but cannot find it. The bartender has a "lost and found" and Nariak is able to get his helm, and return the bowl. A man who calls himself Griffin asks the bartender if he has any keys back there, the innkeeper says no. Nariak knows Brick has a way of finding things, and refers him to Brick. Brick is able to find a spare key that Griffin had under some stones below the back door to his shop. He agrees to give brick two standard healing potions if he buys a greater healing potion (with a generous 20% discount!). After the transaction, Griffin tried to run away, only to be held by Brick's hold person spell. Brick gets the potions, and his gold back before alerting the authorities. After the dust settles, the city guards wait by the shop for the real Griffin to arrive. Brick tries to pick the lock on the back door, but fails.    

Session 8 - 2019-06-03

The session begins while the party are sleeping in Fireshear. They are planning to board the ship they have been waiting for in the morning. In the morning, at the very moment that Nariak speaks the final word of his prayer, they party feels what seems like an earthquake. There is some general panic around the town, and people seems to be running away from the port, either into the mines, or out into the frozen wastes.   Heimdall goes to check out what is going on, and is able to see a Giant Longship that has smashed into the ice of the harbor. He sees Frost giants jumping out of the ship, and more Frost Giants remaining aboard. The giants fan out in small groups, and start raiding and pillaging the city. They don't seem to be intentionally hurting people, but will not hesitate to take out anyone in their way. The giants take anything they think they could use, and take it back to the ship, and repeat this process. The party approach a group of two frost giants, and take them on. Navas is knocked unconscious, but Granny is able to use magic to help him back up, with Oscar's assistance. They take out the giants, and find a few items in their bags:  
  • A 3/4 full cask of ice cold ale. (Pastrami)
  • A single arrow (which they later find out is a +1 arrow). (Navas)
  • A wooden box with 5 candles inside. (Heimdall)
  • A small bag, with 17 half frozen frogs in slush. (Granny)
They decide to get their mounts and head out of the city. They feel the people of Fireshear will be spared if they stay out of the giant's way. Navas agrees, but is not entirely happy with the decision. They travel through the deep snow, heading to the mouth of a river known as 'The Iceflow'. They nearly make it, but need to rest for the night. Their rest is interrupted by an odd looking giant with multiple heads that seems to be a bit feral. The party nearly have this huge creature taken care of, when another giant comes running in, and kills it with a mighty swing of it's great axe. Session Ends.    

Session 9 - 2019-06-17

Session begins as a mighty giant comes out of nowhere and finishes off the mutated frost giant. The party figure out who he is, Harshnag. Navas and Harshnag chat for a while and Harshnag agrees to stay the night with the party, steering clear of their fire. Granny and Nariak hunt two deer, and begin to cook some. Harshnag takes half a deer, untouched from the fire, and still thinks it's a little too hot to eat. The party agree to continue heading south as Harshnag presses forward to the north.   Harshnag informs the party that giants tried to raid Luskan but were unsuccessful due to a group of wizards who protect the port city. The party want to learn more about how they destroyed the ships. The party uses various method of flying to cross the Iceflow River. Navas skillfully crosses the river on the moving ice. Oscar notices a brown bear cub, that appears to be alone. Granny informs the party, and they continue, hoping to avoid the mother bear.   After a few hours of travel, a small cloud of steam escapes from the ground, about 20 feet in front of the party. They stop, and Nariak jams his pike into the ice, it does not get very far. Taking a few steps forward, he finds that the pike goes farther into the ice. One more jab with the pike, and the ground in front of them bursts with a cloud of steam and ice, as a Remorhaz ascends from the layers of ice beneath them. Navas polymorphs the Remorhaz into a mouse. Oscar then takes the mouse and flies 250 into the air, and drops the mouse. After the mouse hits the ground, it turns back into its true form, and the party bombard it with attacks. The party manage to slay the monstrosity without anyone being swallowed.   Session Ends.  

Session 010 - 2019-06-25

Remorhaz corpse. Oscar learns how to spot these monstrosities. Harpies. Something in the water. Sleep. Sled. Approaching Luskan, Drow.   Session Ends.    

Session 011 - 2019-07-01

Players arrive in Luskan. They see 4 drow leaving in haste. "You messed with the wrong pig!" The party retrieves a chest from the ruined frost giant longship.   Session Ends.    

Session 012 - 2019-07-15

  No notes?   Session Ends.    

Session 013 - 2019-07-29

  The party boards the ship. Granny, Heimdall, and Nariak play dice while Brick hangs out in the cabin and Navas enjoys the water. Granny ends up winning the pot worth 152 silver. Guurda (the ships cook) tells granny she trusts Rodney (the quartermaster), but she feels like he is hiding something. So naturally Granny and Brick are on it. They develop a plan that involves all members of them and the successfully get everything from Rodney's chest except for the 50g. He does not notice in the morning. In the night, Navas feels that the ship has stopped. He wakes everyone and they find that there is another ship and eventually Oscar sees a small rowboat with a familiar crew member heading back to the ship. Heimdall tries to get their attention, but the rower is able to stealth out of sight. Navas develops a pretty good relationship with Captain Colt, but is unable to get him to change his current goals. They arrive in Neverwinter, Rodney does not seem to notice his belongings are missing. Granny follows a low level crew member and pays some ladies of the night to show him a good time and make sure he does not get back on the ship.   Session Ends    

Session 014 - 2019-08-12

  Heimdall speaks with his uncle. He learns that the Longhouse has lost 2 loaded ships, including crew and cargo. They currently have all their ships at port, and are only taking the most pressing contracts given the dangerous circumstances.   The party hangout at The Sour Fig. While trying to display his skill, Navas threw his trident into the wall, and attempted to toss rings onto the haft of it. This caused a few drunk patrons to start a fight, leading to the guards attempting to clear the place out. Brick leaves immediately. Most of the drunkards leave, and the regulars and more coherent individuals stay put.   Navas and Nariak end up getting rooms to sleep in, and Navas' room has a toilet. This toilet is a mimic. They take care of it, but the shopkeeper thinks Navas ate some under-cooked poultry or something.   The next day, at the market, the party find a merchant selling firewater for 2gp each. They try one, and end up buying all of them.   Nariak goes into a tent and pays a couple"Cunning Linguists" who say that they can magically teach him a new language.   They board the ship. Rodney and Colt confront the entire crew about Rodney's missing belonging. Navas suggests they search everyone. Luckily, they followed a list, and the party was at the end of the list. They get to the point of Grent Bishop (the one that Granny made sure would not get back on the ship) and they stop the searching and assume it was him.   Navas and Granny (as a dolphin) go for a swim. All the fish start to run and hide. A giant shark come out of the depths and tries to eat Navas, and fails. They kill the shark and begin pulling it to the ship.   Session Ends.    

Session 015 - 2018-08-19

  Session starts with the crew pulling the shark up onto the deck, and harvesting as much meat as they can, as well any any other useful parts; teeth, hide, and fins. Brick makes some sharktooth earrings. Navas is boasting about his feats but the crew seems to not give him as much attention as he wants. He stands on the railing and speaks louder. He is surrounded by a net, and pulled off the port side of the ship and into the water. Brick casts mind spike one of the creatures that are pulling Navas into water. He is able to see where they are taking him while the group thinks of what to do. They consider counting their losses and moving on, but Heimdall owes Navas another life debt, so they decide to go on a rescue mission.   The first room is a large bowl of water with two Reef Sharks and a Sahuagin Wave Shaper. In the next room there is a Sahuagin Champion guarding a small murky cave, demanding the party be quiet. He attacks when Heimdall attempts to walk into the cave. In the cave, 30 feet underwater, there is a Sahuagin Deep Diver.   The party go underwater in the bowl room, and head down the hall where they believe Navas to be. They find a side door that leads to a ladder, and then a storeroom/hatchery. The backwall of the storeroom is protected by a glyph of warding. Brick triggers it with mage hand and it freezes at least half of the sahuagin hatchings. In a secret room, they find a Jug, a Cloak, and a Greatsword. Continuing down the hall, they are outside the door of the room where they believe Navas to be.   Session ends.
