Session 10 - Candlekeep, Elturel above Avernus

General Summary

Traxigor opened the infernal puzzle box and discovered the "Betrayal of Elturel" contract made between Thavius Kreeg and Zariel. The contract protected Elturel from the undead assault led by Gulthias for 50 year period unless Gulthias was freed from his imprisonment within the Gulthias Tree. Once the contract expired, Elturel and all its citizens would be cast into Avernus and doomed. The contract was enforced by the "Creed Resolute" an allegiance to the city, made by all citizens. Elturel's protection came in the form of a "Second Sun" known as "The Companion" illuminating Elturel in a protective light for the past 48 years. When the party destroyed the Gulthias Tree in Session 04, it voided the "Betrayal of Elturel" contract as Gulthias was freed from imprisonment. Traxigor plane shifted the party to Elturel, discovering the city hovering and chained above the River Styx. "The Companion" once a bright light, was dark and filled with lightning storms. The party noticed that Night Fang Spire was missing from its location within Elturel. The party encountered Harkina Hunt with her 2 children fleeing 3 Bearded Devils (Blass, Thunn & Nodd). The party killed the 3 Bearded Devils. Harkina Hunt told the party she was on her way to Elturel's High Hall Cathedral as a survivor sanctum. The party agreed to accompany her and her family to the Cathedral. The party killed an additional 3 Bearded Devils and 4 Spine Devils on the bridge connecting east and west Elturel. The party approached the entrance to the High Hall Cathedral and were attacked by 2 Hell Hounds. The party killed the 2 Hell Hounds.
