The party decides to search for clues regarding the ambush they had learned about from Rizfeld. In one of the poorer sections of the city, Vinos Serrat aka "Sir Sleepsalot" spots signs of a thieves' guild nearby.
Sir Sleepsalot notices familiar symbols drawn to resemble graffiti on several run down structures along a small street on one of the island sections of Marsember. He explains to the other party members present that the symbols are in fact a written form of thieves' cant, a secretive method of communication meant to pass information to those who have been initiated into a theives' guild. He is able to decipher that the entrance to one such guild must be nearby and soon finds himself face to face with a cloaked figure who steps from the shadows to confront him. After a brief exchange of cryptic words, the cloaked figure opens a hidden passage along one of the walls of the dilapadated shack the cloaked figure had been waiting hidden inside of. The passage reveals a dimly lit stairway leading down beneath the structure's foundation.
