Heroes of Marsember

Military action

A sahuagin raid had stretched the resources of the Purple Dragon Army and now looked to The Bucket Brigade to thwart the remaining attackers. A bloody battle ensues on the sands of the beach a mile east of Marsember. Using superior battle tactics, the party manages to dispatch several dozen of the sahuagin attackers with a fine blend of arcana and steel.

The battle concludes when Ebony Gray, who'd been lying bloodied and unconscious at the feet of the very same baron sahuagin the rest of the party had encountered in a coastal cave, suddenly snaps awake. Without any hesitation, the bard splits the baron sahuagin's skull with a single perfectly-placed smite from her mace, spilling the contents of his skull onto the sandy shore. A dragonborn, Korvix Norixius and several soldiers from the Purple Dragon Army had arrived mid battle and had fought alongside them against the sahuagins. Witnessing a tiny dwarf on the brink of death display the bravery to charge headfirst back into the fray against the very foe that mortally wounded her moments earlier, was just the emotional fuel they needed to reignite their collective spirits. These soldier's testimonies lead to local rumors which spreads like wildfire across Marsember. Shortly after, Marsembians would colloquially refer to The Bucket Brigade as: "The Heroes of Marsember."

Rizfeld Halfmoon informs the party that the Purple Dragon Army's had suffered heavy casualties in defense of Marsember. The sahuagin raiding parties relentlessly swarmed the shores earlier that morning. By mid-day, only a handful of Purple Dragon Army soldiers managed to survive and what few remained were forced back towards the main roads.

The Bucket Brigade agrees to help and they rush as quickly as they can to where the latest reports had claimed to have been overrun by sahuagin. Upon reaching the sandy shores, they spot several dozen sahuagin moving along the coastline in their general direction some 500+ meters east of them. FeatherFace and Nimbus begin converting rope and pitons into a make-shift tripwire along the section of beach they had decided to bunker down into.

Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae immediately begins cutting down the sahuagin grunts as they approached. This sparks a blood frenzy among the rest of the sahuagin raiding party members. They wrecklessly rush directly at The Bucket Brigade with a wild carnal frenzy only a barbarian like Nimbus could relate to.

Undeterred by the swarms of sahuagin, Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae's arrows continue to cut down the sahuagin's front line warriors in rapid succession. Meanwhile, Ebony Grayand Caddell Griffith managed to entrap a good portion of the charging sahuagins with a well-placed web spell followed up with arcane fire.

Meanwhile, Nimbus and FeatherFace engage in close quarter combat with the sahuagins. They work feverishly to keep the sahuagins from overwhelming their position and after the first two waves of raiders were eventually rebuffed, the situation was beginning to stabilize. Several Purple Dragon Army soldiers had spotted the party and managed to flank the 2nd wave of raiders. Also, around the same time, a paladin by the name of Korvix Norixius arrives in time to offer his healing magic to Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae who had fallen back after being nearly mortally wounded.

The 3rd and final wave of sahuagins rush ashore just as the 2nd wave had been defeated. They immediately recognize the baron sahuagin leading the 3rd wave as the same baron sahuagin they encountered in the coastal cave earlier. A bloody skirmish ensues during which Ebony Gray suffers a near fatal blow from the baron sahuagin's trident and is knocked unconscious. Korvix Norixius rushes to the side of Ebony Gray, but before he can reach her, she manages to recover consciousness on her own snapping awake as if possessed. Before the baron sahuagin could even notice, Ebony Gray leaps off the ground with her mace cocked behind her head and lands a perfect blow to the cranium of the baron sahuagin, splitting his skull wide open.

The one remaining sahuagin priestess attempts to escape back into the sea upon seeing the baron slain by the diminuative frame of a female dwarven bard. But the priestesses' attempts to flee are unsuccessful and the she dies along with the rest of the sahuagins. The Purple Dragon Army soldiers who were present during this battle are quick to praise The Bucket Brigade for stopping the remaining sahuagin raiders from advancing towards Marsember and word quickly spreads of their heroic actions that day.
