Criminal Activity
While FeatherFace, Vinos Serrat, and Stella were searching for intel on the westside of Marsember, Nimbus and Caddell Griffith head to the eastside to return to The Old Oar Inn to drop off a gift to Emma. Their investigations eventually uncovers that port authorities have overheard whispers of a black market spice market somewhere within the southern archipelago's of Marsember.
Caddell Griffith and Nimbus split from the rest of the group to revisit the girl they rescued, Emma Laith. They gift Emma with a bronze whistle attached to a lanyard that Nimbus meticulously crafted earlier that same day. The whistle, they explain, is to be used in case she gets into any further trouble.
They begin their investigation by interrogating official dock workers near the main docks closest to the Inn. Next, they question the head dockmaster who reluctantly reveals that Marsember has a black market spice problem which Caddell Griffith assumes might uncover some intel regarding the cultists activities later that same night. After hours of carefully scouring several tiny island market stalls, they eventually stumble upon a group of shady looking merchants who are selling their spices at a significant discount if purchased in bulk. Nimbus attempts to create small talk with one such merchant selling nutmeg, but he refuses to trade rumors with non-buying customers. Reluctantly, the barbarian buys a pound of nutmeg in order to loosen the merchant's tongue. The merchant reveals that he had been warned to stay away from a particularly seedy spot in Marsember tonight. Caddell flexes his authority as a War Wizard to coerce the merchant into spilling everything he knows, but to his disappointment it seems the merchant held very little intel back and eventually is let off the hook with a stern warning from the War Wizard.
