Criminal Activity
Vinos Serrat enters the thieves' guild of Marsember solo, leaving his two companions waiting outside, and tries to make some contacts with guild members. The bartender appears to also be the main guy in charge, but fails to make a strong impression with him. Soon after, a fellow halfling seats himself at the bar right beside Vinos Serrat and opens up a friendly dialogue, eventually inquiring about his origins and skill sets. This eventually leads to an invitation for a job/heist with very little to no details, just a time, place, and date to reconvene.
Vinos Serrat makes his way down the hidden stairway and into a deceptively large open room built beneath the foundation of the shack. Towards the center of the room is a human man with a full chestnut beard and slicked-back hair in his early 40's tending to a well stocked bar. The bartender motions with his free hand, directing the newcomer to step towards the bar and leans his head at the empty seat directly across from where is standing.
The halfling rogue casually strolls up to the empty seat offered and climbs up onto the barstool. Once comfortably seated, Vinos Serrat instinctively attempts to get a read on the bartender based on his appearance and how he carries himself. The bartender, he ascertains, is deceptively light on his feet and his body language appears relaxed. To the contrary his eyes remain sharp and focused - constantly scanning the room from the corners. The bartender, appearing to busy himself with washing mugs, addresses the halfling noting he's never seen his face here before.
After introducing himself, the bartender suggests he order libations while at the bar, to which to halfling orders a glass of wine. Vinos Serrat eventually gets to the topic of the ambush, but the bartender claims to have no knowledge of such things. Dejected, the halfling decides to finish his glass and then re-unite with his two companions outside.
Before he can finish his glass, another halfling climbs the stool directly on his right side and makes himself comfortable in his new chair. He orders a drink for himself then orders a second round for the halfling seated next to him. Vinos Serrat thanks the halfling for the drink and they exchange formalities. The newcomer introduces himself as Milo and notes that he's keenly aware of all the halflings in Marsember. Vinos informs Milo that he's not from Marsember and had recently travelled from Suzail.
Milo is curious what skillsets Vinos Serrat possessed to which he responds that he considers himself a specialist at lock picking. Milo, seemingly unconvinced by Vinos Serrat's claims, procures a small padlock forged from a rose-gold colored metal.
He drops the lock into Vinos' lap and reaches into a second pouch. He withdraws from his waist pouch a small sand-filled hourglass delicately held sideways between his thumb and index finger. Once Vinos Serrat's hands removes the lock from his lap, Milo turns and places the tiny hourglass upright on the bar counter. Several grains of sand manage to drop from the top section of the hourglass before Vino's plops the now unlocked padlock back in Milo's lap.Vinos casually sips from his second glass of wine while watching in amusement as a mixture of confusion and shock dances across Milo's face before quickly composing himself in a matter of seconds. A couple seconds pass in complete silence after which Milo clears his throat and offers Vinos a gig. He doesn't get into details, but suggests that Vinos meet him in 10 days at specific Inn in Marsember
