The Bucket Brigade is beset by 4 barbed devils upon entering the desecrated tomb. Caddell Griffith manages to entangle one of them in sticky webbing and FeatherFace manages to stun one of the devils. Nimbus stands her ground recklessly swinging her magical maul. In the end, their combined fighting prowess manages to bring down every last barbed devil. After defeating the last devil, they examine the tomb in the center of the room they had entered.
Ebony Gray was able to learn from careful examination that the structure was built by a tribe of storm giants who betrayed the other giants during the thousand year war known as the Maur. The tomb had inscriptions from several different dialects. The one that looked to be the original inscriptions and taking up the center of the tomb was written in giant. Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae manages to translate the insciptions which Ebony Gray recognizes as a song he'd once heard about known as the Saga of the Dragon Queller. Around the edge of the tomb was 4 inscriptions of the same language but different from the first. Caddell Griffith recognizes this language as he had studied draconic in the past. He translates the two phrases along the edge. The first reads: "Tiamat upon devouring Hjurnur Wyrmrever's child gave birth to the first Abishai." The second message Caddell Griffith translates to: "Black magic upon the remains of her slain enemy, she gave rise to this unholy being." The third message read: "Those whom finds Tiamat's favor before death shall rise again as an Abishai so long as this site is desecrated." The 4th and final message translated to a prophesy of a "Dragon Destroyer" who could break the curse that triggers the rebirth of the Wand of Orcus. FeatherFace rigs a bell to a fishing line drawn across the entrance to the tomb before everyone attempts to take a short rest to recover from their wounds. Just as the party had completed their rest, everyone can clearly hear the chime of a bell and everyone rushes to the entrance weapons at the ready. Standing before them is Vinos Serrat aka Sir Sleepsalot. They immediately confront him with a host of accusations and questions. Everyone is suddenly shocked to hear a booming voice in their head with a dark deep voice. They watch in horror as Sir Sleepsalot slits his own throat and attempts to rush past them towards the tomb. Sensing something afoul, the party members instinctively & successfully wrestle the tiny halfling to the ground. They hold him down until he finally bleeds out on the floor. Just then, Korvix Norixius also walks into the tomb and appears extremely shocked to see the members of The Bucket Brigade standing over their former member as if they had just killed him. Korvix Norixius in shock asks the party to explain what's going on. Caddell Griffith interrogates Korvix Norixiusas to what he is doing down here. Korvix explains that Vinos Serrat had convinced him to follow him down inside because his friends were in danger. He was also instructed to wait outside for 5 minutes and to come in if he didn't hear from the halfling before then. FeatherFace manages to convince Korvix of the truth behind Vinos Serrat, but towards the end of his discussion, Vinos' body starts to writhe, twist and contort. In a matter of seconds a dragonlike devil creature metamorphizes from the halfling body and suddenly lunges at them. Luckily, FeatherFace manages to lockdown the abomination with a stunning strike, preventing the creature from doing much damage before being beat to a pulp. Several hours of time go by before Caddell Griffith is finally able to recall the name of the frost giant he believes the poem written in giant was referring to. As he speaks the name, "Hjurnur Wyrmrever," a spectral entity with a deep booming voice demands, "Who awakens me from my damned slumber." After a brief exchange of answers and questions, the spectral giant issues a challenge in the form of 2 riddles. The answer to the first would reveal who else was buried in the tomb with him. Answering the second riddle would grant a blessing from him and unlock a section further within guarded by undead minions. They spend several more hours pondering the riddles before eventually solving both. Hjurnur asks they present him the hammer they used to unlock his tomb. Nimbus hands him the hammer and he embues it with mystical fires and returns the hammer to Nimbus as Dawncrusher. He suggests that the party could now remove the curse that had already triggered the rebirth of the Wand of Orcus.
