Temple of Abbathor
The temple of Abbathor was a temple structure built into the rocky formation within the Sword Mountains, dedicated to Abbathor, dwarven deity of greed.
It was situated in a cleft within the mountains, east of Leilon, about 15 mi (24 km) southwest of Phandalin .
While it was a rather small structure, the temple featured a number of hidden doors and passageways. The easternmost chamber, known as the Hall of Greed, held several valuable looking but trapped gems.
In the late 15th century DR two dwarven prospectors, Dazlyn Grayshard and Norbus Ironrune uncovered the ruins of the temple while looking for gold in the mountain.
After our the Colonial Rangers cleared the temple of dangers. The rangers safely recovered the gems to Phandalin . Dazyln briefly spoke with Don Jon Raskin who recommended they take the gems to Halia Thornton as she will likely have experience with these sorts of things.
These gems held secrets underneath a series of riddles and puzzles. And Halia would attempt to negotiate the purchase of the gems.
The rangers successfully solved these puzzles. There was magic inside the gems which revealed the tragic history of the temple.
The history told how Several new dwarves arrived unannounced and began spouting unusual religious rites. The acolytes of Abbathor agreed to adjust the rituals in favour of the new dwarves.
They eventually began sacrificing people and these poor tributes seemed corrupt and this angered Abbathor. Eventually, the god walked amongst them and brought down the mountain on them all killing all inside....
It wasn't clear but Jormund suspects many priests were given further punishment by being melted by Abbathor and they formed yellow oozes.
The party assume this was the jellied oozes they encountered when searching the temple...
