General Summary

The Eigth One

The Deck of Many Arguments

The group had just defeated the green dragon on the ruins of Thundertree. Killing the dragon seemed to have an effect on Kneel, and even changed his appearance a bit.
They decided to head back toward Phandalin. Along the way, there was a kerfuffle involving the deck of illusions, which ultimately resulted in Aurora convincing Omar to give the cards back to K without anyone else realizing he'd taken them.

That's One Way to Address a Deity

Omar also spoke once again with the Raven Queen. After asking her about dragon eggs and how to care for them, she told Omar that Wave Echo Cave contained a portal that joined the worlds of Toril and Krynn. She warned the portal must not be opened. However, no one knew what the Raven Queen's goals or motivations might be.

Seven Samurai

Upon nearing Phandalin, the group noticed the Orc army surrounding the village seemed very diminished. They also saw what seemed to be Red Brands walking around in the town.
It seemed Stephen had returned to Phandalin to help, and had been outfitting the villagers as best he could with armor and supplies formerly belonging to the Redbrands. The town was preparing to defend itself against the orcs.
Some of the orc soldierssaid sections of the army had been sent toward Wave Echo Cave, and that Obould was investigating some apparent treason by one of his lieutenants - Druigig. Gundren believed, if this was the case, then one of his brothers must have broken and given the Orcs the location of the cave.

I Love it When a Plan Comes Together

The group devised a plan. They planted evidence of treason in Druigig's tent. They met with Obould. He revealed his plan - that he had been communicating with the Black Rider and had been invited by Tiamat to travel to Krynn so the Orcs could aid in her conquest of that world and once again find the glory of battle that had long since eluded the orcs in this world. He invited the group to join him. Much to Makyra's chagrin, everyone agreed - kind of.
Then, K used a scroll of modify memory on Obould. The spell succeeded, and K proceeded to alter Obould's memory of the last few days. He made him believe completely in Druigig's mutiny and that he'd been the one who murdered Obould's son. K also made him believe that the entities from Krynn did not want him to destroy Phandalin.

Relena, You Look Different

Afterward, the group decided to take a quick long rest before heading to the Cave. During this rest, Fizban appeared to Aurora in a dream. He mistook her for Relena because she was traveling with Omar. He asked if they'd completed their mission, although he was vague on the details, either intentionally or not. He insisted they much reach the portal first.

Time to Go

Aurora woke K and told him what happened. The rest of the party woke up and decided to leave for the Cave as soon as possible. They snuck through Orc encampment where executions were taking place, and made their way to the Cave using Reidoth's directions and Gundren leading the way. While traveling,they passed many groups of Orc soldiers that had begun their march toward the Cave and were making camp for the night.

Our New Friends

Upon finding the cave, and Omar ran in. The group encountered a group of four Orcs, and convinced them they were working with Obould and that they should join them in going further into the Cave. They also found the body of Gundren's brother, Tharden. Gundren was distraught at this and expressed regret for not heading to the cave immediately instead of waiting.

It's Just Allergies

A little further into the Cave, one of the orcs was attacked by a strange, parasitic ooze. The ooze had climbed up the orc's nose, and the group beheaded it. The ooze attacked Makyra as well, and they got it out by using dust of sneezing on her, then they destroyed the Ooze.
