Kings of the Rift

General Summary

The party fulfills their promise to return Artophanx to his people and thus gain access to the last tether binding the Citadel in place. They travel to Kongen-Thulnir a cliffside trade hub on the Plane of Earth, where the very air itself is a literal gift from the dao lords that rule. Quickly becoming embroiled in the civil strife, the party sides with the Rift Crawlers and their crass leader, Charlgar. Bak and Silk are nearly captured stealing a bracelet from King Bagg of the opposing faction – the Riftlords, but they make their escape and earn access to the artillery vaults where the final tether is moored. The party forces their way into the vault and battles the drought elemental guardian within. The PCs decide to avoid another massive explosion and instead decipher the artifact powering the tether. They are forced to intentionally corrupt life into undeath in order to power down the device, but their action saves the lives of those living in Kongen-Thulnir.   A hasty trip back to the citadel finds that all has been set to rights. Former prisoner, Hank Selbar, has been charged by the god of death to serve as the new warden of the Grey Citadel. Kelemvor thanks the party for their efforts and shows them its impact. Souls are again flowing freely. Those who ardently oppose the will of the gods and were evil in life, but sought redemption before death, may be judged worthy of a place in the Wall which separates the cosmos from that which lies Outside. Triple T has ensured that no realms will again be threatened by creatures like that which Bak faced. The truth of this reality, however important to the cosmos, does not rest well with the party. Not all are solemn, however. Bak sees the young djinn they had freed during their first trip to the Citadel and, true to form, goes off on his own to see where she leads him. The party is soon falling in multiple directions through the skies of the Plane of Air, eventually landing on the deck of a cloud skiff under the command of the sultan of the Vaati.   Events
