Leilon

Description

Leilon was a small mining town that served as a convenient resting place for weary travelers on the High Road between Neverwinter (north) and Waterdeep (south). The town was abandoned following the Spellplague (1385 - 1395 DR) as monsters incessantly emerged from the depths of the mines and eventually overran and destroyed most of the buildings.

In 1472 a company of mercanaries from Waterdeep defeated the invaders and sealed off the mines, but fear and supersition meant it remained mostly unpopulated for more than a decade until, in an attempt to reinvigorate coastal road traffic in and out of Neverwinter, Lord Protector Dagult Nirembor ordered the imposing High Tower of Thalivar be destroyed, and organised investment funding for a rebuilding and repopulation effort. While much work remains, the town is beginning to find its feet again and now hosts a steady stream of stopover visitors.

Government

Leilon is governed by a locally elected Mayor, who nominates a Sheriff to act as deputy and enforce the law.

The current Mayor is Isingren Proudbody, and the Sheriff is Belasaurus Cutton.

Industry & Trade

Previously a small but profitable dwarven mine for copper and gems, the mine is now abandoned and permanently sealed.

Leilon serves as a small but busy rest stop along the High Road. Several markets sell produce and home consumables from the local farms, but most of the trade shops serve mostly maintenance functions for transitory caravans.
