Phandalin Lionshield Coster
From the Mines of Phandelver book:
To read: Hanging above the front door of this modest trading post is a sign shaped like a wooden shield with a blue lion painted on it.
This building is owned by the Lionshields of the The Lionshed Coster, a merchant company based in the city of Yartar, over a hundred miles to the east.
They ship finished goods to Phandalin and other small settlements throughout the region, but this outpost has been hard-hit by banditry. The most recent Lionshield caravan due in Phandalin never arrived. (It was attacked and its cargo captured by the The Cragmaw Tribe goblins.)
The master of the Phandalin post is a sharp-tongued human woman of thirty-five named Linene Graywind. She knows that bandits have raided Lionshield caravans, but she doesn't know who is responsible.
In a backroom, Linene keeps a supply of armor and weapons, all of which are for sale to interested buyers. For prices, see "Adventuring Gear" in the rulebook.)
Linene has a few scruples, however, and won't sell weapons to anyone she thinks might be a threat to the town. Among those with whom she refuses to do business are The Redbrands.
She warns the characters that the ruffians are trouble and advises them to avoid the The Sleeping Giant tap house.
Recovered Goods. If the characters return the stolen goods found in area 8 of The Cragmaw Hideout (or if they left the goods but reveal where they can be found), Linene gives them a reward of 50 gp and promises to help the adventurers any way she can.

Description Outside
Across the square, you can see a large stone building, with one or two warehouses at the back. Some wares have been expertly brought outside for display. You can see buckets, mats, wheelbarrows as well as more adventurous gear such as gloves, shoes, and lanterns. Above the solid oaken door is a sign shaped like a wooden shield with a blue lion painted on it. You can recognize it straight away as the ubiquitous logo of the Lionshields - a merchant company based in Yartar a hundred miles to the east with a large franchise in the region.
Description Inside
As you enter the building, you step into a modest but very welcoming showroom. A series of shelves stores wares for the home and the great outdoors. You also notice a few locked display cabinets where new mail plates, daggers, knives, and shortsword are on display.
Through an open door behind the counter you can get a glimpse of another store room and more display cases.
A large russet rug has been thrown on the floor and it leads to a large wooden counter behind which stands a thirty-five-ish human woman with shoulder-length black wavy hair and bright blue eyes. She smiles at you as you make your way towards her.
First Meeting Good afternoon, welcome to the Lionshield Coster. What can I do for you? We sell adventurous goods, and we also provide quality weapons and ammunition.
If you want to buy weapons, I apologize in advance, but I would need to check your credentials, or at least ascertain your business in this town.
Rest of the building
- There is no private apartment in the building, Linene Graywind's House is further down the small street that runs along the side of the Lionshield Coster.
- The door behind the counter leads to the armory, another well-appointed room. The armory does not have any windows and is built in solid stone. The door to the armoury seems plain enough but is actually magically trapped when shut.
