Shrine of Luck
Phandalin's only temple is a small shrine made of stones taken from the nearby ruins. It is dedicated to Tymora, the goddess of luck and good fortune.
The shrine is in the care of a scholarly acolyte named Sister Garaele, a zealous young elf who despairs of ever ridding Phandalin of The Redbrands.
Sister Garaele is a member of The Harpers, a scattered network of adventurers and spies who advocate equality and covertly oppose the abuse of power. The Harpers gather information throughout the land to thwart tyrants and any leader, government, or group that grows too strong. They aid the weak, the poor, and the oppressed. Sister Garaele regularly reports to her superiors on events in and around Phandalin.
Quest: The Banshee's Bargain.
Recently, Garaele's superiors asked her to undertake a delicate mission. They wanted her to persuade a banshee named Agatha to answer a question about a spellbook.
Garaele sought out Agatha in her lair, but the creature did not appear for her. Garaele desires an intermediary to bring Agatha a suitable gift, a jeweled silver comb, and persuade the creature to tell what she knows about the location of a spellbook belonging to a legendary mage named Bowgentle.
Sister Garaele believes that a character who flatters Agatha's vanity might be able to trade the comb for an answer. She offers the quest to the characters and offers them three potions of healing as payment for their efforts. If the party pursues this quest, see The Banshee's Bargain or "Conyberry and Agatha's Lair"
Joining the Harpers
If the party helps Garaele learn the fate of Bowgentle's spellbook, the elf privately approaches certain members of the group to urge them to join the Harpers. She speaks with those who exemplify the virtues of the network and possess a desire to enact positive change through information and secrecy. If a character agrees, Sister Gararele awards the individual the title of Watcher.

Dogma
These are the tenets that worshippers of Tymora are given to live by.
● Live with boldness, for to dare is to live and those who overcome their fears are able to live without regret.
● Have faith in the fate that you pursue and trust your own luck, for to master one’s own path shows the very confidence that the Smiling Lady favors.
● Devote yourself to finding a unique goal to strive towards, for to wander aimlessly invites misfortune.
● Embrace the uncertainty of fate, for great fulfillment awaits those who challenge the unknown and move forward on their chosen paths.
● Do not hesitate to raise the stakes as fate guides you, for with greater risks can come greater rewards, and those who fall can rise again so long as they persevere.

Outside
In the northern portion of the mall square, you see a very simple, circle of stone. The stones look well cut and weathered. They seem to have come from another building - some stones even have leaf decorations and other ornate decorative carvings, which must have come from a beautiful facade. The walls are fairly high, maybe 2 meters in height and an average size human would not be able to see above them. Facing south is an archway that leads to the center of the small shrine.
As you enter through the archway you see a low fountain that gurgles gently inside a small circular stone basin. As you approach, you can see a few silver and copper coins glittering at the bottom of the fountain, and simply but neatly carved on a large stone behind the fountain you read the traditional greeting found in the many shrines to Tymora, the goddess of fortune and luck in Faerun: "A copper to the Lady returns tenfold in gold."
First Impressions
As you circle the shrine and maybe pray to the lady herself, you turn round to see that a young, tall, elf woman now stands with you inside the circle. Her hair is blond and her eyes a misty gray. Long straight blond hair flow right down her waist and some are pleated in an intricate elven fashion down her long face. She conveys an expression of calm and staid serenity as she smiles softly towards you.
'Welcome adventurers to Phandalin. May the Lady Tymora grant you your wishes on this blessed day. I am Sister Garaele and serve the Lady herself. How may I help you?'
Sister Garaele's House
Outside
A few meters away from the shrine, you spot a small cottage surrounded by a plethora of plants and flowers: many roses and climbing clematis cover the cottage walls, the whole place is covered in beautiful flowering plants of some sort or another. As you approach the entrance, the scent of the roses and jasmine is nearly overwhelming.
Inside
The first room you enter seems to be a small chapel - it is full of potted plants, some in very large pots, green and lush, that seem adapted to the darker interior of the cottage. On the left-hand side, you notice another shrine to the Lady Tymora: a set of small stone steps lead to a low pedestal where sits a round disc in a shape of a coin. Carved within the disc is the portrait of the Lady as it is generally represented: looking skyward and smiling, hair floating behind her in an invisible wind.
On the right-hand side, are a few seats where devotees can rest and pray and a basin of clear cool water for ablutions. A door on the opposite wall to the entrance leads to the rest of the house.
On the other side of the corridor, another door leads to:
a rather large library, stuffed with potted plants, piles of books, knick-knacks of every kind. - you infer it must be the biggest room in the whole cottage. You can see that it is well used. Books are not only on the shelves around the room, but lying on the floor. There are also piles of boos on the large table in the middle of the room as well as a few maps. Two huge tree-like plants stand in the corners on either side of the windows. You can imagine that Sister Garaele spends a lot of time in here.
On the left-hand side of the corridor are three other smaller rooms:
- a small laboratory full of chemicals and dried plants in all sorts of jars lined up against the wall. A small bench contains a small alembic and different vials ready to be filled up with whatever concoctions Garaele will be brewing in the near future.
- a plain bedroom that is once again not the tidiest - clothes lie where they have been thrown - bed, chairs, the bed is unmade. It is plain but cheered up by a few potted flowering plants. A nice-looking desk at odds with the plain furniture in the room has been tucked underneath the window beside the fireplace. You can see letters and papers arranged in rough piles across it.
- a sitting room adjoins the bedroom. In contrast with the bedroom, it is tidy although a bit dusty and does not seem to have been used in months. The fireplace is clean and no sign that a fire has been lit in this room for a while. The four armchairs in the room are of good quality and fetching in blue velvet. The rest of the furniture seems to be far less elegant but functional.
On the right -hand side are two other rooms:
- a bright, hot, and airy kitchen - you can see many plants drying suspended on canes from the ceiling. In one of the corners of the room, you can see a chunky wooden preparation table where all sorts of herbs and plants are waiting to be dried, chopped, or macerated. The scents in the room are very aromatic, you sense that the 'cooking' that is being done here is more to do with potion and elixir making than culinary. Many pots and bowls are lying on tops and shelves across the room. A huge roaring fire keeps the room very cozy, maybe a bit too hot for some of you.
- Off the kitchen is a large pantry: crates of vegetables and plants are stacked nearly up to the ceiling, and there are barrels of wine and amphoras full of sorts of liquids and oils against one of the cellar walls.
