High Moor

Lying on the eastern edge of the Sword Coast, the High Moor is a plateau thousands of square miles large. The High Moor was once covered in verdant forest, but was decimated by powerful magic that wreaked havoc on the land. Now it is a rocky landscape with high grasses, lichen covered outcroppings. Hazards and ruins dot the landscape, including the famous Dragonspear Castle that overlooks the Trade Way. The denizens of the Sword Coast generally give the High Moor a wide berth, due to all the dangers that lie within. Barbarians, goblinoids, orcs, trolls, all make their home on the High Moor. Herd animals do wander the land, as the wolves and other natural predators that would normally prey on them are themselves preyed upon by the two-legged threats. And so the High Moor is most often left to its own devices.
