Session 66: Tomb of Dederius Report
General Summary
The Rock Bottoms continue their adventure to find Varram the White and track down the White Dragon Mask before the Cult of the Dragon can get their hands on it again. Leosin Erlanthar of the Harpers informed the party of Varram's movement, saying he was going to Boareskyr Bridge and towards the Serpent Hills. In the Serpent Hills the Rock Bottoms followed the trail of Varram to a set of ruins.
Within the Ruins the Rock Bottoms were met with many challenges. First the entrance hallway was lined with 6 hooded statues, Alaric gazed into the hood of one of the statues and was mesmerized for a moment. Hearing whispering secerets far too vast and fast to understand everything Alaric was driven temproarly insane. The group waited and Alaric was able to shrug off his condition after a short moment. Moving on into the next room a beautiful tile mosaic of a sun and a knight fighting a giant Chimera was depicted on the ground. Unbeknownst to Alaric who stepped into the room, the mosaic Chimera moved closer and closer till the tiles sprung from the floor, in a flurry of claws, bites, and ram horns a battle ensued with the party and the now rising tile monster. Alaric took the brunt of the damage from the Chimera but the Rock Bottoms were able to destroy the Animated Tile Chimera.
Exploring more of the ruins the Rock Bottoms found a room well filled with water, a basin and a lever. Another set of doors were opened and caused a rock fall that crushed most of the part. Moving forward down a sloped ramp a boulder of bones were tripped and rolled down over the party collecting everyone but Abel smashed into the wall below. Heavily beat up by traps the Party moved a bit slower. Each of them had a singular though in the next room about Mystril. Taking a few moments to think about it Alaric remembers that Mystril was a goddess of magic and that her servents would bow thier heads and hold a pose as if holding up a lanter. The party used this gesture to move through the next set of door
The next room a library or a study but the shelves empty. Artiar looking at the selves had a ghostly figure appear before him screaming not to steal anything. This ghost introduced itself as Ilsa a servent to Diderius. Diderius was a powerful divination wizard that asked for tributes to utilize a local pool of water to see into people's futures. Ilsa gave some info to the party and then they moved forward. The next room showed a large clay figure asking for a tribute for Diderius. Each party member presented monetary and personal tributes to the feet of the figure.
The next room had the party face to face with Barbed Devils, green creatures with spikes and barbs all over the party. They said they were just holding to protect from anyone leaving from the next room. The party moved forward after trying to make a deal with them. In the following room there was a dead body shot with arrow but upon closer investigation revealed it was done by a dagger. A empty pool in the end of the room lead the party to belive this was Diderius' pool and that Varram might have been here and used it.
Finally the Rock Bottoms moved to the next room, a well lit room with a giant tomb in the middle. The party did not want to enter the room but right before closing the door, a voice came from the tomb. The voice of Diderius called out that he knew what they seek. Varram had been carried off by Yuan-ti and that he will open the seceret door to allow them to move forward.
