Mithral
Mithral is a metal famed for its use in lightweight metal armour and other objects. Initially found as an ore, it can be smelted and refined into a metal as strong as steel but more flexible and half the weight. Mithral is commonly mined and refined by dwarves, and is the namesake of the famous dwarven city of Mithral Hall. Due to its properties, armour forged from mithral allowed the wearer to remain as silent as if they were wearing leather. It is also often used to forge chain shirts or breastplates used by dignitaries or spellcasters, capable of fitting under regular clothing.
