Vampire

Vampires are powerful undead that feed on blood. While the origin of vampires is unknown, the only way of creating a new vampire is if an existing one drains the life from a humanoid. Vampires on average are stronger, faster, tougher, and smarter than humanoids. They posess the ability to transform themselves into a bat or mist, can walk up walls or on ceilings, and can regenerate their wounds. They can also drain the life from other creatures, and if this bite kills the creature, turn it into a spawn under the vampire's command. Vampires can instinctively charm humanoids with a mere gaze, turning them into devout followers, or summon swarms of rats, bats, or wolves. While some vampires can mask their existence as undead, they universally have more pallid skin, do not cast shadows, and have no reflections in mirrors.

Each vampire is bound to its coffin, crypt, or grave site. If its body is destroyed, it becomes a cloud of mist and returns to its resting place. Once there, it can reform its body in as little as an hour. However, for all their advantages, vampires have a number of weaknesses. They are hypersensitive to sunlight, burning alive if they touch its rays. They are also harmed by running water, and a supernatural charm prevents them from entering a home without an invitation. The only way to properly neutralise a vampire is by driving a wooden stake through its heart as it sleeps in its resting place, which paralyses it until the stake is removed.
