While exploring the caves around Menzoberranzan with her uncle, Nathxena becomes separated from him and is ambushed by giant spiders. Fearful of what the priestesses would do if they found out she fought back, she hesitates, and is paralysed by their venom. Later, she is rescued by her uncle when he fights them off. This breaks her fear of the priestesses.
