KENKU

The kenku are a race of flightless avian humanoids. They tend to be selfish and secretive in nature and are often engaged in plots to acquire wealth and power. They operate in small gangs and often live in large human cities, especially in southern Faerûn, where they work as spies, assassins, or thieves.   Whilst they communicate with each other in their own language, their learning of other tongues is limited to mimicry of often heard phrases so genuine interaction with other races can be hard. However, this ability to mimic can extend to accents and other vocal signs. A truly gifted kenku can fool a foe into believing they have heard a voice they are well familiar with.

MIMICRY:

  THE KENKU CAN MIMIC ANY SOUNDS IT HAS HEARD, INCLUDING VOICES. A CREATURE THAT HEARS THE SOUNDS CAN TELL THEY ARE IMITATIONS WITH A SUCCESSFUL DC 14 WISDOM (INSIGHT) CHECK.
