The Whalebones
The Whalebones is an archipelago in the Trackless Sea, located east of the Island of Ruathym. They are known as the Whalebones due to the large population of whales that live around the island and beach themselves, causing a large number of whale skeletons to exist on the beach.
Three petty kings war over the islands, each claiming the archipelago belongs to them. The larger islands also contain massive rocs that were used as mounts by a fortress of Storm Giants that lived in an underwater fortress named Maelstrom. The native islanders were known to pay tribute to the rocs and giants by giving them food and treasure.
The tallest island, Finback, was said to be the lair of a young bronze dragon named Tauntzoth of the Rocks.
Petty Kings
- Vargach'urathear - The leader of the Lizardfolk on one of the islands, he has claimed the archipelago for the demon lord Sess'innek. He claims to be a descendant of the monster and has used that influence and his skill at arms to conquer his island.
- Iklal Brightbeard - The leader of the Dwarves, he is a half-celestial son of Siamorphe. While this would usually herald a great hero, instead Iklal used his divine gifts to wipe out every non-dwarf on his island and begin a genocidal war against the other two petty kings.
- Robin Darkdraft - A rogue artificer, he is known to have replaced two of his limbs and some internal organs with magical golem-like grafts. He came to the Whalebones from Candlekeep after being banished for his dark experiments with golems and constructs. He is known to field armies of constructs and lesser golems while enslaving all other creatures.
