Merchant Guild

Almost all major cities in FaerĂșn have some form a merchant guild. These all perform similar functions and roles, sometimes at slightly different processes or policies. However thier function is always the same; to monitor and police the sale and trade of goods within their respective regions.   This funcion ensures that the ruling organisation such as crown or council recevie the correct taxes and that goods are sold at correct prices with respects to volume and availabilty.   Most merchant organisations become members of the guild to ensure the best knowledge of trade, prices and availabilty. Successful merchant members gain access to exclusive trade agreements and are normally the first to offered opportunity to tender.

Structure

Each region is formed of a council of the wealthiest tradesmen, merchants and goverment officals. Amongst the council the appointed goverment offical is normally the member which will be involved with external trade agreements. This is to ensure that the crown for instance has overall say on potential trade agreements with other cities or regions.
