Personal history

In the village of Littlebarrow, there were halfling families that were very large. The Tunnellytook family was no exception. There was Grammie Welni and Grampy Finrin, and their sons Tevon, Arbin, and Elver. Those sons had wives - Xivira, Fenne, and Belda. Then those couples had children of their own. Lena, the first child of Tevon and Xivira was a quirky young girl; she enjoyed fun and laughter, pulling pranks and such, and she loved music. She got her first lute when she was ten, and often played songs for her family and the guests that sometimes showed up for visits. Her songs poked playful fun at others, and she was often very blunt in her wording.   Her family, always full of rambunctious little ones, was hard to handle at times. However, she never minded, as it gave her the experience she needed when she was to raise her own family, eventually. This family came in a very unexpected way.   A few days after turning twenty, two young half-orc children, in the night, were abandoned near the village. They were mere toddlers, with no parents to be seen. The Tunnellytooks let the children in, merely to wait for the parents to show up. A week passed. No parents came by, looking for their lost children. The halflings were unsure how to deal with the children. Most of the family were afraid of the children, as they were very different than what they were used to, and they didn’t know how to deal with them. They almost sent the children to the nearby city of Waterdeep, to the orphanage. Lena, however, had grown fond of the children, and decided to raise them herself.   The Tunnellytooks offered whatever help they could, but it was unsatisfactory - these were half-orcs, after all, and they were halflings. Lena decided she needed a more satisfactory home to raise her children - who she named Belora and Vinton - as a burrow in a hill was no place for a half-orc, who would grow to be three times her size. She left Littlebarrow and went to live with a friend she had made, a hill dwarf named Grendohr Steeljaw, on the outskirts of Waterdeep. Grendohr was a grouchy man, and did little to help with the children’s care at first, but he let Lena stay, and kept the family under his roof fed. Lena appreciated that, and didn’t ask for more.   When Grendohr passed unexpectedly from illness, she moved into Waterdeep, to a place with many half-orcs. Her children, six at the time, were excited to see people like them, and made many friends. Lena, too, was making friends. In the underbelly. She became a thief in order to provide for her children, as well as making money as a busker… Though thievery proved to be her main source of income. Ophimythe was a bard and a thief, who became Lena’s closest friend. They often did duets - though Ophimythe eventually left Waterdeep, to find her own path.   The children turned fourteen, and despite Lena’s pleas, they left to go on their own journey. Lena was depressed; she had nothing now. Her friends and neighbors tried to console her, but she had an emptiness in her heart. She decided to set off to find another purpose.   She sang openly and honestly in her travels; this got the attention of jesters, who decided to let her into their circle. Her songs were passionate, truthful, and, most importantly, funny. Lena was an oddball of a halfling, but she found a place as a traveling jester.
