Geography

The continent is part of a larger world known as Toril and is located in the northern hemisphere. Faerun is roughly circular in shape, and its topography ranges from forests and rolling hills to mountains and deserts.

At the center of Faerun is the heartland, a region of fertile farmland and rolling hills. To the west lies the Sword Coast, a long and narrow strip of coastline that stretches from the northern to the southern ends of the continent.

The Sword Coast is home to several major cities, including Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, and Neverwinter. The Moonshae Isles, a group of volcanic islands located off the western coast, are also part of Faerun.

To the east of the heartland are the Trackless Sea and the Endless Waste, a large desert. Beyond the Endless Waste is the land of Thay, a region ruled by powerful Red Wizards. To the north is the Cold Lands, a region of tundra and ice. The Silver Marches, a region of rolling hills and forests, lie to the northeast.

In the south, beyond the Cloud Peaks mountain range, is the Shaar, a vast grassland. To the southwest is the Anauroch Desert, a large expanse of sand and rocks that covers much of the southwestern part of the continent. The Burning Sands, a region of scorching deserts and dangerous nomads, lies beyond Anauroch.

The geography of Faerun is diverse and includes many different regions, each with its own unique characteristics, cultures, and environments.
