Welcome to the Forgotten Realms

The Forgotten Realms has been one of the campaign world settings with the most Dungeons & Dragons official published materials. One can find its reference materials for all D&D editions easily. The lore of this fictional world spans over millennia and dispersed through a bunch of other media outside of the official hardcovers.

To give any newcomers to this campaign setting, here is a quick introduction to the rules and need-to-know info. To anyone who is interested in the lore, here is a central hub for all the interesting pieces I, as a Dungeon Master, decided to keep or add from all the books and games.

Faerûn is one of the continents in the Forgotten Realms and it is the main focus of all the campaigns set in this world. The general style leans towards High Fantasy. Imagine something like Middle Earth in the Lord of the Rings or Narnia in Chronicles of Narnia. There are a bunch of magical races and spellcasting. Lost empires or civilizations from ages past left a lot of powerful remnants like ruins and artifacts. Forests have fearsome beasts and dungeons filled with dangerous aberrations. And you, You are an adventurer braving the thrilling lifestyle of dungeon-delving and monster-hunting. Maybe it's for money. Maybe it's for glory. Or maybe you have this ridiculous contract made by your ancestors that you have to fulfill on their behalf. Who knows?
