Halruaa

Halruaa is a land renowned for magic, with at least a third of the population being skilled spell casters. Study into the arcane was encouraged by Halruaan society, with nearly all arcane casters being wizards.   Halruaa is naturally surrounded by mountain ranges on three sides, helping pave the way to their isolationist society. The only natural entrance into Halruaa is by ship or through one mountain passage to the north. The climate of Halruaa was typically very warm and humid, with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees in the summer and 80 degrees in the winter. This warmth combined with the cold snow caps of the mountains led to the land experiencing sudden and frequent thunderstorms.   The population of Halruaa consisted entirely of Halruaan Elves, descended from Moon elves. The populace of Halruaa all lived together in numerous villages and cities scattered throughout the country's interior. Most of these were small settlements with no more than a few hundred inhabitants each, while the largest settlements were smaller than the cities of other nations. Their smaller scale of size is due to their society valuing equality so having a poor district was unheard of in Halruaan society. The citizens all lived in lavish and comfortable homes. These homes were often touched by magic, their homes would typically have at least a few magical enhancements, such as floating magical lanterns, or magical streetlamps along major roads. They utilized spells that produced sparkling lights and pleasing sounds to weave these effects into their fine fabrics. They also used fanciful means of travel, such as carpets of flying or floating carriages. These were common place in Halruaa for the citizens took great pains to show off their abilities as well as their wealth.   The only inequality in Halruaa was based upon an individual's ability of the arcane arts. A person who showed great affinity towards magic would be more likely to be granted a position of leadership. The government of Halruaa consisted entirely powerful wizards with a Magistar ruling over a council of sages. Every one of the smaller villages had an experienced wizard placed in charge of it. This wizard was tasked with the protection of the village and to give guidance to the citizens.   Although Halruaa was a peaceful and wealthy nation they also suffered the effects of the spell plague. On the western side of the country villages were torn apart by massive earthquakes and some coastal cities were flooded. The entire country was torn apart.   The fall of Halruaa is still considered one of the worst tragedies to the history of arcane knowledge.

The cities of halruaa were well known for their vineyards that produced Haerlu wine. It was a sweet wine made from moondrop grapes and had a faint hint of arcane energy within it. It was believed this wine could help enhance the abilities or arcane casters.
The Harluaan citizens were incredibly protective of their Haerlu wine, with powerful wards protecting their vineyards and the trade of it to outsiders was forbidden.
