Pirate Isles

The Pirate Isles are a large collection of islands located near the center of the Sea of Fallen Stars. This collection of islands is composed of mostly smaller scattered islands with one large central island that contains the infamous city of Tempest's Hold.   Tempest's Hold is said to be the largest port across the entirety of the Sea of Fallen Stars. It is a place where pirates gather and laws hold no bearing. It is one of the best locations for those interested in black market trading. It is rumored that the infamous pirate king, Captain Scarlet, rules over this island and keeps their massive treasure horde hidden somewhere within its shores.   Due to the large amount of trade conducted across the sea's waters, pirate attacks are commonplace. Due to these attacks, guard ships are usually always posted with merchant conveys. If a merchant is unable to hire a guard convoy it is common for them to turn to mercenaries to protect their goods.   Besides Tempest's Hold, there are various other islands located around this ocean. Due to the unnaturally warm waters for this latitude, the islands located across the sea are quite pleasant. It is common to find pristine sandy shores and a large variety of unique wildlife.   It is warned against for even civilian travel across this sea without capable escorts, which due to the high volume of traffic makes escorting ships a profitable business. The Radiant Shield of Cormyr is currently working to make these waters safe for travel by eliminating the pirate threat.
The Sea of Fallen Stars gets it name due to the almost mystical light it gives off at night. Small particles will glow throughout the water, condensing where the water meets land.
It is believed that washing yourself under the moonlight of these shores will cleanse you of your sins and allow you to experience a rebirth. This makes this sea a common location for religious worship and pilgrimages.
