Sembia

Sembia is a country of wealth and fortitude, and one of the few countries to have a completely democratic government. Their government consists of a council where each member represents a region of the country, the North, the East, the West, the South, and Central Sembia, where the capital city is.
This country is relatively peaceful, with a significant portion of fertile farmland, allowing them to be independent from the nation of Cormyr. They have weather that trends towards cooler, with summer temperatures of high 70's to low 80's and snowy winters that average in the single digits. Due to this crops are bountiful and it has led to prosperity in the country.
When the Cormyrean Crusades began in the early 1300's, taking advantage of many countries weakness from the spellplague, Sembia publicly denounced them. While Cormyr claimed it was uniting the land with their new military, the Radiant Shield, Sembia saw it as a land-hungry move that gave the citizens of that land no choice in the matter. There was a lot of bloodshed during these conflicts, and Sembia any refugees fleeing the encroaching armies of Cormyr.
Due to this, Sembia has always maintained a strong position against the Radiant Shield, disallowing them from passing through their territory. This strict stance has been instrumental in preventing the Radiant Shield from spreading its influence among North Eastern countries. Many also credit the prevention of war between The Radiant Shield and the Red Legion of Thay to the strict borders undertaken by Sembia.
Despite its seemingly precarious position, Sembia is a prosperous country with a high rate of citizen happiness. Their united stance against Cormyr has only brought stronger bonds between the citizens, creating pride in the independence they have maintained together.

The Great Wall of Sembia is a marvel of engineering. It was constructed to prevent any attempts of Cormyr to invade, and it still stands as a testament to their will. This wall is one of the largest man made structures on the continent, stretching for miles. It is considered a sight of salvation for many who were escaping the invading Radiant Shield.
