Sword Coast

The Sword Coast is one of the more populated countries and hosts some of the larger cities on the continents.   Unlike other nations, though, the Sword Coast is an independent collection of regions, getting its name from the jagged cliffs that border the ocean between Baldur's Gate and the River Dessarin. This region is dotted with major cities and small settlements that all have their own forms of government and retain independence.   Some of the major cities found in the Sword Coast are Baldur's Gate, Elturel, Neverwinter, and Waterdeep, all major cities with strong trade ties to outside nations. The Sword Coast is one of the countries with the highest amounts of large cities, the only being the Free Marches. Out of all of these cities, Baldur's Gate is the biggest, and stands as one of the largest cities on the continent, even rivaling the capitals of nations such as Amn and Cormyr.   Outside of the cities, the land here is quite pleasant, having a good mix of warm and cold in the south and getting chillier as you go north. In the very northern end of the country, the winters are harsh with mild summers, but there are well managed roads that connect the Sword Coast allowing for easy passage into the milder portions of the land.   While these roads are well maintained, they were also rife with danger. Bandits and highwaymen prey on unsuspecting travelers, a major drawback of not having a unified, nation-wide government.   While the Sword Coast is mainly human, there are a large variety of all races found here. Humans elves, dwarves, gnomes, and halflings are all common. Races such as Tieflings, can also be found due to the Sword Coast not being as stigmatizing as other nations, although they still encounter their own fair share of problems.
The Sword Coast has many beautiful natural rivers and sprawling forests. There was farm land to be found here, but the land was not as fertile as that found within the borders of Cormyr, so the larger cities still rely heavily on trade for the majority of their produce.
