Tethyr

A beautiful temperate forest consisting of a wide range of docile wildlife. Gentle creeks lazily wind through patches of flowered meadows and warm forest, down the gentle slopes of hills until finally reaching a sparkling ocean side.   This forest has the largest population of Wood Elves on the continent. They gather peacefully, and live in harmony within the borders of their home. They are hunters, taking only what they need, and living off the resources they can find. Overall, they are a fairly prosperous people, with some living in the same spot their whole lives, and others constantly shifting their entire community through the forest.   This forest is one of the largest wooded areas on the continent, taking weeks to travel through. The elves here lived in relative harmony for hundreds of years, until the humans of Calimshan outgrew the resources provided by their land. The humans of Calimshan cleared all of their forests for farmland and their need for lumber quickly grew.   The logging expeditions of the humans quickly led to high tensions with the elves currently living there. As they started to clear their ancestral home, the elves of Tethyr decided to fight back. They had heard what had happened to the Dale forest that once stood large and strong and refused to let humans do the same to their home.   This has led to constant warfare between the two, while there are no official battles, it is common for humans and elves to attack each other on sight. All conflicts are small and individual, with a small group of elves disrupting a logging operation, or ambushing a prolific merchant caravan.   The conflict has only grown in recent years increasing tensions between the two nations.
Tethyr is the only region home to the flying rabbit, a species of rabbit that used to be common in the area and that the humans of Calimshan desperately seek for their high selling hides.   These rabbits can still be found and they use their large ears to soar in the sky and between trees in order to escape predators. They have learned a natural fear for humans, but tend to be more trusting of wood elves, who treat them like as a revered animal.
