Xantharl's Keep
Xantharl's Keep is a fortified village south of Mirabar, about 100 miles north of Longsaddle, known for its curiously tall and narrow houses with steep roofs. Described as being located ‘in the middle of nowhere’, it is on the west side of a particularly dangerous and rugged stretch of the Long Road near the Lurkwood.
It was the home to an abberation known as the False Hydra that the Goodfellas defeated in 1491 DR.
Government
During the late 15th century DR, the keep's lordship was served Narbeck Horn, who in turn reported to the marchion of Mirabar, by means of a sending stone.[
Defences
The keep was protected by 150 defenders, over twice the population of the accompanying village. A number of heavy crossbows were mounted upon its outer wall.
History
Some time after the War of the Silver Marches, the settlement became home to an aberration known as the False Hydra. It dwindled the population of the village from 500 people to less than 200 in the matter of months, where it grew from a tiny worm-like creature into a gargantuan nightmare creature. It was located and defeated by the adventuring group called the Goodfellas in 1491 DR.
