HotDK 2: "After the Raid"

General Summary After turning over the captured raider to Governor Nighthill, you attempted to take a brief rest. However, before being able to do so, a group of raiders managed to break into the Keep via the Sally Port on the west wall and you were called upon to repel them. Near the end of the fight, Capt. Escobert and two of his soldiers arrived just in time to watch your team finish off the small group of Kobolds along with their Ambush Drake and what appeared to have been a Human Cleric. Escobert and his team took care of fortifying the Sally Port ready room and door so you could finally take a long rest   Before getting some rest, however, Malice and Aluric speak with Governor Nighthill to find out if any information was obtained from the prisoner. They are told he admitted to being part of the Cult of the Dragon Queen and collecting loot to "usher in the reign of the Queen of Dragons" and that they have a clutch of dragon eggs under heavy guard in a cave at their camp. Both Malice and Aluric know about this cult that worships Tiamat, the goddess of evil dragons currently banished to the Nine Hells, but up until now they've only been a nuisance fringe group that believes they can bring Tiamat back to the Prime Material Plane.   At dawn, with most of the raiders having started leaving, a Blue Half-Dragon along with several squads of Kobolds issued a challenge to the defenders of Greenest -- one-on-one combat with him in exchange for four prisoners, a mother and her three children. Malice's friend Sergeant Markguth immediately attempts to rush out of the Keep as the woman is his sister! Pubert, instead intervenes and meets the Half-Dragon's challenge to honorable combat. Alas, Pubert falls, severely wounded but thankfully not dead. True to his word, the Half-Dragon releases his prisoners and leads the rest of the raiders from the town, leaving Greenest to begin the cleanup and rebuilding process, and your band of adventurers to determine their next move.   Rewards Granted Milestone Reward = 2nd Level (300 XP total) XP reward = 175; Milestone Level 2   Missions/Quests Completed Completed "The Sally Port" Info from prisoner: reveal that they are members of the Cult of the Dragon and that they are collecting loot "for the great hoard that will usher in the reign of the Queen of Dragons.” They know that the cult has a clutch of dragon eggs under heavy guard in a cave at the camp.
