The Chronicle of Balduran

"Lo, it was in ancient times that the great hero Balduran tread the sands and sailed the seas of the world."   "Lo! It was Balduran the Mighty who journeyed far to the north. Past the mountains of madness at the end of the world, to a land bathed in cold, white death. It was he who conquered the tribes of ice, and he who felled their captor - the great wyrm Akgrazzd, known as Frostrazer."   "Lo! It was Balduran the Cunning who voyaged over the endless sword sea. From the gray harbor of his birth he bested hunger and thirst on that mighty ocean, league after desolate league, until he came to the verdant lands of the jaguar king and his feathered court. Clothed in their mystic plumes of blue, it was Balduran who matched wits with the devils of the jungle, seeing through their sharade. Balduran recognized the Jaguar Kings' treacherous nature, trapped those tempters of man in his maze of thought and stole away with their prize."   "Lo! It was Balduran the Stoic who crossed the endless Calim with neither water nor shelter. Across the sands of time the merciless Balduran pursued his prey, the Djinn Khaladim, who stole fire from the mountain, wind from the great serpent, and caused the sun to bring madness to the unwary. On his throne of brass and fire, the relentless Balduran found Khaladim, laughing with the pride of eternity. And lo, it was in that sea of fire that Balduran swung his mighty axe, severed the Djinn's left arm of rock and flame, and stole away his bride Listharia."   "Lo! It was Balduran the Pirate who took flight upon the Sea of Stars with his loyal Fleet of the Six, ever eastward until his ship found Jadrathiz of the Spire, city of serpents and treachery. Under a crying Selune, upon churning waves stirred by sharks, did the fleet of man and snake collide. On that night it was Balduran, master of tides, who tamed the mighty Sekola and crushed the serpent cutters in the jaws of a god."   "Down through the ages drift the legends of King Balduran."   "Balduran the Destroyer - slayer of demons."   "Balduran the Merciless - defeater of angelic hordes."   "Balduran the Conqueror - who by his mighty axe and steel-hewn nerves drove his enemies before him, heard the lamentations of their women, and brought the name of Man to the lips of the gods."
