The Triceratops Society (or Ytepka Society, pronounced: /jɛˈtɛpkɑː/ yeh-TEP-kah[1] or: /iˈtɛppkɑː/ ee-TEPP-kah,
Chultan for "triceratops") was a secret society dedicated to the protection of
Chult from foreigners.
Organization
There are 99 degrees of membership in the society. The oldest
Tabaxi are of the highest degree and lead the group. It is rumored that one of the
Barae heads the society, but there is no evidence to support this claim.
Activities
The Ytepka carefully monitors all happenings in
Chult. Their task is to ensure that the natural and social order of
Chult is not upset. If the Society notices a potential problem, they will leave an iron triceratops figurine at the home or abode of the individual about to commit the wrong. If the marked person ignores the symbolic warning, the Triceratops Society would take punitive action. This punishment is most often a fine of some sort, but physical punishment or even death might also be enacted if the crime were severe enough.
Members
The group consists mainly of warriors. Two or three members are likely to be found in every port and village around the country, and they maintain an efficient communication network with each other.
