Padan

Padan (a.k.a. Old Man in the Woods)

Padan stands as a venerable figure on the periphery of Fair Coin, a high druid whose reputation is as expansive as the forest he calls home. His towering stature and rumored giant lineage only add to the aura of mystery that surrounds him.

Life in Solitude

For decades, Padan lived a life of solitude, a recluse deeply intertwined with the natural world. His infrequent visits to Fair Coin were marked by acts of kindness—curing the ailing or causing barren trees to burst with fruit overnight. Despite his isolation, tales of the enigmatic druid who whispered to the woods traveled far and wide.

Defender of Fair Coin

When the Yuan-Ti army threatened the peace of Fair Coin, it was Padan whom the Heroes of Fair Coin sought for aid. Answering the call, Padan revealed the depth of his power, commanding the weather and summoning a battalion of woodland allies to repel the invaders. His decisive intervention forever changed the town's perception of the silent guardian at their doorstep.

Leaf, the Druid's Voice

Padan's reticence is well-known, with his avian companion, Leaf, serving as his voice. The sparrow is as vivacious as Padan is quiet, miraculously speaking with a wisdom that belies its small form. The nature of their bond is unclear, but it is unmistakable that Leaf understands Padan's thoughts, translating them into words for those who cannot comprehend the language of the forest.

The Reluctant Town Sage

Post-battle, Padan's presence in Fair Coin grew, albeit hesitantly. Gifts and invitations flood in, seeking his participation in community life. Despite his anxiety (and his difficulty in refusing requests), Padan often finds himself amid the very society he once observed from a distance.

Mentorship and Influence

Padan's emergence as a powerful druidic force has not gone unnoticed by the younger generations. Many aspiring rangers and druids journey to seek his wisdom, regarding him as an unofficial mentor. Though Padan shuns formal apprenticeship, his guidance flows freely, shaping the next wave of nature's guardians.

Druidic Conclave

Due to Padan's influence, Fair Coin has become a hub for druidic convergence. Druids from across Faerun are drawn to the town, seeking the wisdom of the High Druid and the community that has sprung up around his teachings. The natural beauty infused within the town's architecture and gardens is a testament to Padan's philosophy of living in harmony with nature.

Legacy

Padan remains an enigmatic fixture in Fair Coin, a symbol of the wild's might and mystery. His story is interwoven with the town's history, a chapter that continues to inspire and intrigue both locals and visitors alike. The high druid, with his giant's shadow and sparrow's song, has become a living legend, embodying the untamed heart that beats beneath Fair Coin's civilized veneer.
