Listeth

Calamity of Air and Stillness

"It's odd how clearly and vividly I remember the moments under her spell. As if loosing my sense of hearing, everything else became heightened. The sights of my friends being torn apart. The smell of a demolished town. The taste of iron in my mouth. But most of all, I won't forget all those silent screams." - Darien Gouge, Adventurer

History

Created in the Elemental Prison of Air after the sealing of the elemental gods, Listeth was made in the eye of the planes ever-raging storm. In that bubble of stillness, a single feather manifested. This feather was then gently touched by every wind, one at a time, taking their energy and growing from it. A feather turned into a wing, into a bird, into a flock, into a murmuration. Until the being was a storm of unto itself. Listeth was the fourth of the Calamities to descend upon The Material during the Age of Calamity.5

Appearance

Listeth takes the form of a massive murmuration of white-feathered birds. At a long distance, her form can be mistaken for a cloud, but as she moves closer the odd movements of her individual parts become more apparent. Whenever her form is struck, individual birds fall away from her form, revealing that they are simply vague approximations of creatures. All of them are wrong in some way, having strange numbers of limbs attached at wrong angles, eyes of other creatures, mouths instead of beaks, or any other state of deformity. While her power draines all sound from around her, if she was to be encountered on her native prison, each bird screams echoes of each voice she has stolen.

Powers

All sounds within 2 kilometers of Listeth dissapear as if they had never existed. This effect on its own is often enough to send any settlement into panic and disarray. Notably, this also makes most spell casting much more difficult within this area, as mages are not able to properly pronounce their spells. Listeth controls each part of herself individually, every bird having the characteristics of a bird of prey. Storms of claws and beaks descend upon people trapped in silent violence.
