Wizard's Fire

Write about an addictive substance in your world. What makes it so alluring and how do people react to it?

Mechanics & Inner Workings

When Wizard's Fire enters the blood, and travels to the brain, it slows the central nervous system, but overworks serotonin production. This causes the user to go into an extremely relaxed state, while their mind is flooded with euphoric thoughts and feelings. If too large a dose is ingested whether in a single dose, or too many doses with not enough rest between, the nervous system will completely shut itself down, and the brain will continuously push large amounts of serotonin, leaving the user in a permanent catatonic state. It is believed that the user, though catatonic, is in a constant state of euphoria.

Manufacturing process

Two parts Myconid spores and one part Displacer Beast blood. Boil the mixture until it's all evaporated. Once cooled, dispose of any remaining liquid. Scrape the remaining residue, and grind into a powder. Sugar is often added to make this powder into a tea to drink.

History

Showing up in the first months after The End, Wizard's Fire quickly became a way for people to cope with the destruction around them. First showing up around the East Anchor area, cases of overdoses resulting in injury and death started to spread across the world.

Significance

An addictive powder used to induce a feeling of euphoria. If taken in too large a dose, or too frequently, Wizard's Fire can put a user in a permanent coma, or even cause death.
