Faerie Ferrets
Faerie Ferrets were thought to have been made extinct when the Tolenestrian Empire invade the woodland realm of Brocaede. A great many poachers came along with the imperial legions to catch the adorable little ferrets for their skins. Skins to adorn the rich and wealthy courtesans and courtiers of the imperial court. The chief agent behind this was Baronetess Prime Furrier of the Empire Matta Fradariksan. Such was her wickedness and perfidy that both the Seelie and Unseelie courts agreed to place a bounty on her head.
Faerie ferrets come in a wide spectrum of colors, and have portions of their skin that are bioluminescent. This is the reason for their use in fashionable industry. A faerie ferret will live approximately sixty to seventy years in the wild, double this if domesticated. They are omnivorous but are content to feed on fresh fruits and berries.
In captivity they are extremely loyal and loving pets, that will scamper about playfully after their owners and sleep with them at night. In defense of their owners and themselves the ferrets can excrete a high euphoric and hallucinogenic spray that will leave the recipient dazed and wandering about in a trance like bliss.
Faerie ferrets breed once every two years and on average give birth to a litter of four or five young. They young are helpless for two weeks, then begin to explore their nest as their eyes open. At six weeks they become a little more adventurous and range a few feet away from the nest. Young ferrets will be weaned off their mother's milk after ten weeks.
Faerie ferrets can run about thirty miles per hour for short distances. They can boost their speed to near fifty miles per hour when they hunt for prey when they desire eating meat. They are quick turners and extremely agile.
Since the invasion faerie ferrets have been making a slow come back. They are now a protected species within the Brocaede.
