Extra-Planar Boring

The hostile landscape of the wasteland rejects all traditional life, thereby disallowing the growth of crops or other food sources that is required to sustain the growing population. Great House Melide devised a clever solution based on existing Great House Tassel technology salvaged from their ruined capital by creating what they dubbed "pockets": tiny, extra-planar realms existing outside of reality's whims, aligning more closely with the elusive otherworldly planes, thereby abiding by altered laws of being. They found that certain positions between planes can support artificial biospheres capable of supporting rudimentary life, though not nearly to the extent of fully-fledged crops, rather inedible substitutes whose nutrition must be conjured. Through the use of Extra-Planar Bores, Great House Melide single-handily sustains the entirety of the Meridian through their constant surplus of food stocks, dredging entire swathes of wasteland to support their growing food industry. Extremist Houses under Great House Melide have been known to militarize this technology to subvert rival defenses.
