Feast of Eleven Days

The Feast of Eleven Days is thought to have been a celebration of victory - the coming together of many different races to stave off impending annihilation. Each of the Eleven Days supposedly signified momentous triumphs and acts of defiance in the face of overwhelming adversity. When many peoples were united under one cause.   The sentiment of the Feast resonates to this day, with the contemporary festival partially being a tribute to the victories of Astralshaper, bringing order to a dying world and standing defiant against the Evening Star, as well as a memorial to the valor of those that came before.   Sintasia, an isolated protectorate of the Meridian of Stars' Eternal, celebrates a variant of the Feast of Eleven Days that is not observed anywhere else. Scholars are not entirely sure why they deviate from the original ritual.

History

Great House Thirteen believes that the Feast of Eleven Days was first conceived by a nation of Elves, Humans, Kobolds, and Orcs - far ancient and lost to time, even as the Meridian first came into being.   A passage in the Saga of Night details that the Feast of Eleven Days was suppressed before the building of the Meridian, and not widely observed. However, Astralshaper believed that the spirit of the celebration echoed within Her empire - the unification of the world, under one banner, to shield against chaos and war. As such, it was decreed that the Feast of Eleven Days would begin at the fall of every Evening to the Darkness. A memorial of defiance against the Evening Star.   After the @Stenum Period - one of the most brutal and horrific moments in the Meridian's history - the Great House Melide, who rose from the ashes of a ruinous era, took it upon themselves to bring the Feast of Eleven Days to the far reaches of the Equatorial Rise, forever transforming it into a grand and elaborate continent-wide jubilee at the end of every Evening.   It is debated whether the name of the festival should have been changed to the Feast of Eleven Nights, but the Regent Vicarvoyancy Assembly spoke on this topic on 287.15R stating, "While we are perpetually shrouded in the cover of Her darkness, to rename the Feast of Eleven Days would be to tamper with the essence of the event."
