Stratum Casting
A predominately Transmutation methodology and technology branch designed by a subordinate house of Great House Ital Tek for mining operations, but may sometimes be used for surface harvesting should the need arise. Tried and tested, "caster" convoys consisting typically of ten specialist vehicles installed with a variety of equipment suites that compliment one another, all in conjunction deployed to survey the "under-surface" stratum: a saturated barrier of elemental particulate reinforcing the integrity of material deposits, often disallowing harvesting operations unless broken. Casters are designed to locate tears in the stratum so that mining teams can wedge spells into the tear and disrupt the elemental stream. During disruption, the previously reinforced lattice can be handled and harvested so long as the wedge is maintained. Once harvested, the stratum will dissipate slightly, and the process repeats.
