British Political Museum
The British Political Museum is a fictional museum located in London. It houses important political documents and objects, as well as having a vast Biographical Library.
Purpose / Function
To archive, research and display anything of political importance to the British Isles.
Alterations
The museum is open at night for sentient ghosts only. This is rarely used, but it is a gesture of acceptance and accommodation to Britain's sentient ghost community. (Britain has a larger than average sentient ghost population, although it is not understood why).
Architecture
The entrance to the museum is a revolving door with gold poles and frames, opening onto a ticket barrier. The ticket barrier opens into the main part of the BritPol Museum.
The main part of the building is a vast hall with marble pillars and floor. This houses the Biographical Library - a collection of displays of artefacts relating to different political figures. The museum organises their political figures by area of politics (Transport, Defence etc).
There are side wings displaying art, or special displays/exhibitions. There are a number of smaller collections in separate rooms, like the World War rooms, and the Ghost Alliance room.
The Ghost Alliance room contains The First Ghost statuette and the staircase the Prime Minister and the Spectre (the elected leader of the sentient ghost community), signed the BritGhost Alliance on.
History
The BritPol Museum was revamped in the late 1960s when sentient ghosts were first accepted as having the same rights they had in life. The building originally held the little-used Independent Ectoplasm Research Centre or IERC, which was shut down in the 1950s.
The new BritPol Museum was opened to much fanfare and a luxury opening ceremony attended by the darlings of the media at the time.
Some of the more expensive items are housed at the BritPol, but owned by Fantasma.
