Vermilion Canyon
"After the nightmare that was the Alshiun desert, I wasn't ready to cross yet another desert, but Vermilion Canyon is actually quite beautiful in a way. The stripped cliff sides are oddly addictive to draw. I may have added about a dozen drawings into my notes of them."

Industry & Trade
The city is the main hub for trading in Kheiron, and it's one of the few places where it's not odd to see bipeds walking around, often to trade goods from the Empire.
History
The town started as a small camp for the recently escaped centaur slaves to call a base when the had made it out of The Empire of Fanentous. As more groups made it to the camp, it grew larger and larger. Eventually it was officially called a city as regular trade, business and an economy developed. Over time, new generations would be born in the city, making the first true Kheirans. While groups would leave Vermilion Canyon to settle other areas, the capital still kept it's numbers.
The city has seen it's share of scars from frequent attacks it endured during the The Centaur Rebellion.
Architecture
The architecture of the city is slightly different to what you would be used to. Centaur houses have to be much larger to accommodate their anatomy. Their wooden houses have swinging doors rather than ones with door knobs and latches, due to how awkward it is to turn around to close the door behind them. Houses rarely have stairs but when they do they are wide and shallow with plenty of room to place down hooves. Stairs of often replaced with ramps though.
Even their furniture such as beds, chairs, tables and bathrooms need to be altered to work for them, thus their homes can look completely alien to a human.
The town is layed out in a very straight forward way, with the roads and pathways being wide with no sharp turns. Houses seem to have a western vibe to them.
Geography
Vermilion canyon rests along the river inside a canyon that runs along the western side of the island. The town is tucked between tall cliffs that provide protection from the hot sun, and also act as a natural defense for the city. The canyon cliffsides are decorated with the iconig redish-orange stripes that the area of Kheiron is known for. The town gets water from the large river that flows through the canoyn as well.
