Koldum
The most famous trade town in the North , despite it's relatively small size. Koldum has gained quite the reputation as a den of vice and pleasure from its place along the lucrative Old Road.
Demographics
The majority of Koldum's population is human, though a sizable number of elves have begun to fill its streets. Drawn by the promise of discreet work and less bigoted eyes. Of this population the vast majority are are little better than peasants with a rare few managing to claim to be burghers and fewer still calling themselves nobility. Most citizens find their work in either illicit activities or in one of the many brothels that line the streets.
Government
In name, the town is a freetown but in practice it is run by criminal gangs as though it were a monarchy.
Industry & Trade
The main industry of Koldum is tourism. The lifeblood of the town is the coin brought in by travelers and merchants that stay at on of the dozens of brothels or other vice dens that line the streets of the town and the men and women hired there ply their trade on any and all travelers that pass through the town on their way north or south along the Old Road. Many of these brothels, bathhouses, and private clubs are secretly run by criminals which feeds into the towns second largest source of income: crime.
Tourism
Most visitors to Koldum are travelers or merchants on the Old Road. The town is situated perfectly along the old highway to intercept travelers headed both directions. Once inside the city they are funneled to one of dozens of inns, taverns, brothels, bathhouses, or gambling dens that allow travelers to rest as well as fulfill their vices. The town is so pervasive with seedier elements that many more morally inclined travelers and merchants avoid the town wholesale.
